Wishbone was a sworn brother of the Black Company who participated in the raid of the Grove of Doom in Bleak Seasons.

Wishbone accompanied Murgen, One-Eye, Goblin, Thai Dei, and some others to the Grove, where they ambushed a group of Stranglers. Their big prize, Narayan Singh (the chief Strangler jamadar) and the Daughter of Night (the kidnapped child of the Company's two highest ranking officers), escaped. But, the group wiped out a number of dangerous Stranglers with the help of Goblin's sleep spell. They even destroyed a shadow which was sent to attack by six hidden shadowweavers (new allies of the Stranglers). The defeated shadowweavers now eagerly announced their surrender in the language of Taglios. Wishbone mocked them because they, and others before them, must have rehearsed the phrase beforehand. (Shadowweavers had all originated far from Taglios, and spoke a different native language.) He asked if there was any use for them, so Murgen ordered them to keep two prisoners, and the others were summarily executed with the help of Thai Dei.
