The windwhale is a sentient flying beast living in the Plains of Fear. It resembles a cross between a shark and a jellyfish. Some specimens can be around 500 yards long and 100 yards wide. The windwhale lives in symbiosis with the flying Mantas. Flocks of Mantas inhabit the crevices in its body and protect it from attacks. Its only vulnerability is fire, as the whale produces inflammable gas in order to fly.
The windwhales serve the Old Father Tree. They are used for transport and living weapons by Darling. They are carnivorous and don’t mind eating the enemy’s horses and soldiers. Their tentacles can crush buildings and their bodies can generate lightning, which is useful for long-range attacks.
