The Rani Poor is a desert of the southern continent which borders the Sea of Torments. It is not far to the east of Beryl, the most ancient of the Jewel Cities. The Rani Poor is mentioned just once, in The Silver Spike, where it is described as "seventy silvery miles of lifeless, mirror-flat salt desert".
The Rani Poor is the third named location in the long, overland odyssey traveled by the demon called Toadkiller Dog, who was following the trail of his new enemy, the Limper. After swimming the River Bigotes and then the Hyclades, Toadkiller Dog passed through the Rani Poor, then continued eastward, crossing, in order: the lifeless landscapes of Barbara, Laba Larada, Khun, the Canyons of the Undead, and the ruins of the temple city of Marsha the Devastator; the populated province of Karsus; the Plain of Dano-Patha; the Mountains of Sinjian; and finally, the Straits of Angine and onward into the northern continent, to the Tower at Charm.
