Northern continent

The northern continent of the homeworld was where the Domination and the Lady's Empire were located. Most of the events of the Books of the North, as well as much of The Silver Spike, took place here. Its southern boundary is the Sea of Torments and the Strait of Vermust, beneath which lies the southern continent.

Natural features

Major natural features include:

• the Great Forest in the central northernmost region, within which is found
  • the Great Tragic River
  • the Great Forest sea
• the Windy Country
• the Empty Hills
• the Plain of Fear
• the Stair of Tear mountain range
• the Forest of Cloud
• the Rip
• the Wolander Mountains and the Port River of the far northwest
• the Salada Peninsula of the far west, which projects into the ocean
• the Kiril Lakes and the Straits of Angine in the southeast
• the Ghost Country in the east

To the west of the continent can be found:

• the Pocatose archipelago
• the Gap, a large bay or sea

Cities and civilizations

Central region (north to south)

• the Barrowland, deep in the north
• the province of Forsberg, containing its capital Oar and the large fortress at Deal
• the province of the Salient, containing the free republic city of Roses and the fortress Meystrikt
• Elm, Rye, and Vest
• the Tower at Charm, the seat of the Lady's empire
• the city of Opal, one of the Jewel Cities, on the northern coast of the Sea of Torments
• the city of Dusk, the capital of the Domination

Western ocean coastal region (north to south)

• the city of Juniper
• the city of Meadenvil
• the cities/towns of Shaker, Needle, and Tagline
• the city of Chimney
• the port of Kadith

Near eastern region

• the city of Lords, just west of the Plain of Fear
• the village of Spit, also west of the Plain of Fear

Central eastern region (roughly between the Plain of Fear and Tally)

• an unnamed Imperial province with several towns:
  • Aloe, a republican city-state and the region's main hub (approx. 1,000 miles from Charm)
  • Amos
  • Emeru
  • Honnoh
  • Rhymes
• an arc of five massive cities further east of the Plain of Fear:
  • Rust
  • Frost
  • Barns
  • Thud
  • Ade
• the cities/towns of Rue, Hull, and Were, also apparently east of the Plain

Far eastern region

• the Imperial province of Tally in the far east, formerly an independent kingdom; containing two major towns: Tome (approx. 2,000 miles from Charm) and Heart
• the kingdom of Tambor in the far, distant northeast
