N'Gamo was a wizard of significant magnitude mentioned in events that took place before The Black Company. In D'loc Aloc, the brothers One-Eye and Tom-Tom (both boys at this time) were sold to N'Gamo to become his apprentices. Shortly after, N'Gamo attempted to destroy a young male forvalaka but failed, losing an arm and a foot in the process. Tom-Tom never forgot the experience. Many years later, in Beryl, Tom-Tom would briefly recount this story to Croaker when the Black Company discovered a forvalaka was loose in that city. He also admitted he would never match N'Gamo's power as a wizard.
