Glen Cook revealed in a long-awaited update – an interview in April 2024 with Bob Byrne at Black Gate[1] – that A Pitiless Rain will be divided into 4 volumes.

Tor Books announcement[]

On December 9, 2024, Tor Books released[2] sales copy, a placeholder front cover image, and some metadata for the book. The publishing date will be November 4, 2025, with a page count of 400 and an ISBN of 9781250397997. Shortly afterward, new cover art by Raymond Swanland was revealed.
