Hika Nolet was a deceased member of the Black Company who received a memorial inscription from the Company's dedicated grave keeper, Outsweeper, in Port of Shadows. She and her sister Guust Nolet were among the very small number of women in the Company. The sisters dressed in men's clothing. They were evidently disliked by many others in the Company.
Outsweeper's epitath for Hika was "Redheaded cross-dressing demon whisperer" and the epitath for her sister Guust was "Cross-dressing in plain sight". Croaker added a note in his Annals: "These sisters had been seriously nasty. Hika may have fallen to friendly fire".[1] If Croaker's guess that Hika was killed by friendly fire was incorrect, then she was probably killed in combat against the enemy Rebel and Resurrectionist forces in Honnoh or elsewhere in the region of Aloe.
Hika Nolet's remains were buried by Outsweeper in the Company's Aloen graveyard, among the trees of an apple orchard located half a mile from the Company's compound. Of the 17 deceased Company members memorialized by Outsweeper whose inscriptions were recorded by Croaker, only Minkus Scudd featured in the Annals beforehand. The remaining 16 names, including Hika's, only appeared in the context of their epitaths.
