Dollal Dey Banerjae was a deceased Taglian man mentioned in a conversation between Sleepy and Surendranath Santaraksita in Water Sleeps. At the time of their dialogue, Sleepy was using the name of Dollal's deceased son, Dorabee Dey Banerjae, for her alter ego.

Dollal met Surendranath Santaraksita – the master of the library of Taglios – at least once, but they did not become close friends. Evidently, Dollal never met Sleepy.

In Water Sleeps, it was revealed that Dollal took part in the military events of Shadow Games more than 20 years earlier (though he had not been specified by name in the Annals for those events). Dollal had been among the thousands of Taglians who enrolled in one of the original legions raised by Croaker the newly-hired Liberator at the onset of the Black Company's involvement in the Shadowmaster wars. Dollal never returned from Ghoja, indicating that he was killed at the Battle of Ghoja Ford.

Dollal's son Dorabee later followed his father's footsteps and joined the Taglian forces under the Black Company's command in a later portion of the Shadowmaster wars. He also died in combat like his father: Dorabee was killed in a skirmish of the Kiaulune wars near the Daka Woods which took place during the first 5 years of the 15-year gap between She Is the Darkness and Water Sleeps.

Years later, Sleepy, in disguise as Dollal's son, told Master Santaraksita that Dollal had boasted that he was one of the first to enroll in Croaker's legions. This was either an embellishment or something true she had learned from Dorabee. During Water Sleeps, Dollal's wife and his surviving sons and daughters and their spouses and children all still dwelled in the same part of the city where Dorabee was raised as a child.
