Bashra is a Gunni and/or Shadar deity – presumably a goddess – mentioned by name just once in the Annals (Bleak Seasons). Bashra was known for her "holy prostitutes" who traveled about Taglios "to perform their obligated random acts of joy" which would be sacrilegious to turn down.

In Bleak Seasons, two of the Stranglers who invaded the Palace of Taglios in their failed attempt to assassinate Croaker disguised themselves as holy prostitutes of Bashra. Covered up in that clothing, they got close enough to the Royal Guards to kill them and to continue into the Palace. The invaders – numbering at least 15 – would soon kill To Tan and several other Path of the Sword bodyguards (Nyueng Bao De Duang swordsmen) within the Palace.

Murgen would later revisit this event using his time-traveling observer abilities in She Is the Darkness, where he wrote: "the first couple of Deceivers came disguised as temple prostitutes fulfilling their obligations to their goddess. It had not occurred to the guards to turn the ladies down. That would have been sacrilegious."

Bashra's prostitutes share some similarities to the sex workers who belong to the Temple of Occupoa in Aloe... an entirely unrelated cult more than 7,000 miles away in the northern continent.

Unlike Kina – a real entity about whom countless myths have sprung up – there is no indication in the Annals that Bashra was anything other than a mythological character.
